We ALL need to be Learning how to Improve our Immune Systems. In our bodies we have so many amazing systems working FOR us that do their jobs without any intervention whatsoever as long as we provide it with the proper nutrition and enough clean water and exercise. Rest is also a Major factor that is important for good health. In our daily routines we often find ourselves not giving our bodies the best that we could and as a result… we sometimes find ourselves actually weakening our immune systems by consuming things that our bodies were not designed to ingest easily or worse… not at all! In this article we will share information on how you can improve your immune system.
Your Immune System Is Your First Line of Defense
As I am writing this article the world is still experiencing challenges with the Covid-19 Virus and who knows how many Variants. Health officials all over the world stress the importance of getting vaccinated to protect yourself from these viruses. The vaccine may not keep you from getting sick but they will boost your immune system and typically make any hospital stay much shorter and greatly decrease the chance of death.
In addition to taking vaccines to protect you from Covid-19 and the sub variants, we all should be aware of other shots we all should take to protect ourselves and especially our children (if you’re a parent) from illnesses that come and go with the seasons. If you’re not aware of all the shots that are recommended… it would be advisable to contact your local health department and just ASK.
Are you drinking enough WATER on a daily basis?
If I was asked “How to improve my Immune System” I would tell you first and foremost to drink enough water on a daily basis. Incredible as it may seem, water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off. Although most of us take it for granted, water may be the only true “magic potion” for permanent weight loss. Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat.

Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
So how much water should you drink on a daily basis? On the average, a person should drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses every day! That is about two quarts. However, the overweight person needs one additional glass for every 25 pounds of excess weight. The amount you drink should be increased if you exercise briskly or if the weather is hot and dry.
YOU can Improve Your Immune System with Exercise
Many of us have heard the words… If you don’t use it, You lose it! That is SO true with your immune system too. Regular exercise gets your blood flowing through your veins and arteries. It makes your heart pump more than it typically does at rest. You don’t have to “pump iron” to exercise. There are so many simple and inexpensive items you can use to strengthen YOU and in the process… boost your immunity. A daily walk and stretching are a great way to start and easy on the budget. Learning to do yoga or pilates or dancing (ballroom or square dancing) for example are great ways to get your heart pumping and blood flowing without a gym membership. Not that there’s anything with going to the gym as you can see some mighty healthy looking people coming from and going into them.
If you’re recovering from any type of physical injury your doctor will quite often suggest physical therapy. The therapists use lots of complicated machines AND some VERY simple things like stretching bands to strengthen and repair the part of your body that hurts. They also use large balls (maybe three feet in diameter) that you sit on or roll around on to accomplish the goal fo the exercises. My point? Inexpensive works if YOU do! I have a used “Total Gym” that I bought at a yard sale. With it I can do so many exercises that would actually take a whole gym full of equipment to accomplish. All I have to do is set it up and get going… at my pace IN my home. It folds up and fits under the bed easily. I am not suggesting you rush out to buy one. Just do something that gets you moving and drink Plenty of clean fresh, cold water. Believe it or not, an article I read said… “Water should be perfectly cold — it’s absorbed into the system more quickly than warm water. And some evidence suggests that drinking cold water can actually help burn calories. Who couldn’t use that tip?
Can I Improve My Immune System with Supplements?
When I was much younger my high school science teacher gave me a book by Linus Pauling who received a Nobel Prize for his research on Vitamin C. I read the book and became hooked! I have taken Vitamin C as a supplement because I did not believe I was getting enough Vitamin C from my diet. As a result, I almost never get a cold. B Vitamins (B Complex) are highly recommended by many practitioners as well as Vitamin D-3 and Zinc, especially when looking to improve your immune system to stay well in cold weather.
Conclusion
When you ask your doctor “How can I improve my immune system?” you will get a different answer from most of them. Exercise, Vaccinations and plenty of water will likely be HIGH on the list from most of them. Some doctors almost never reccomend supplements as that is not what the drug companies want taught in medical school. I have actually had more than one “doctor” tell me that I was peeing my money down the toilet as a result of taking supplements. So carefully consider their words when you hear their answers. Do everything you can to improve your immune system to live a Long and Prosperous life.
